Terms of Use
Effective Date: April 4, 2026
Last Updated: April 4, 2026
Welcome to BrewCard ("the Service"), operated by Ivan Surin ("I," "me," "my"). By accessing or using BrewCard at brewcard.app, you agree to these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. About BrewCard
BrewCard is a free web application that lets you create, customize, and share coffee recipe cards. No account or registration is required to use the Service.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use BrewCard. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this age requirement. If you are between 13 and 18, you may use the Service only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.
3. How the Service Works
- Creating recipes. You enter coffee recipe details such as brew method, dose, water, temperature, time, beans, tasting notes, and brewing steps. BrewCard generates a styled recipe card from your input.
- Sharing recipes. You can share recipes in two ways:
- By link with server storage. BrewCard saves your recipe data to my servers and provides a short URL. Anyone with that link can view your recipe card.
- By encoded URL. Your recipe data is compressed and encoded directly into the URL. No server storage is involved.
- Downloading cards. You can export your recipe card as a PNG image, which is generated on your device and saved locally.
- Browsing the feed. Recipes stored on the server may appear on the public recipe feed if they are sufficiently complete.
4. Your Content
You retain full ownership of any content you create using BrewCard, including recipe data, card exports, and any text you enter such as the "Brewed by" name, bean details, or roaster name.
You are free to use your recipe cards for any lawful purpose, including personal and commercial use, such as printing a card for a cafe menu or sharing your own recipe publicly.
By submitting a recipe to BrewCard's server-stored sharing, you grant me a limited, non-exclusive license to store, display, and serve that recipe data for the purpose of operating the Service, including showing it on the public feed and generating social sharing preview images. This license ends when your recipe data is deleted.
5. Recipe Data Retention
Recipes stored on BrewCard's servers are automatically deleted after 90 days from creation. There is no option to extend this period or manually delete a recipe before expiration. URL-encoded recipes shared without server storage exist only in the URL itself and are not stored by BrewCard.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws;
- submit content that is defamatory, obscene, threatening, or that infringes on the rights of others;
- attempt to interfere with, disrupt, overload, probe, or bypass the Service or its infrastructure;
- circumvent any rate limits, access controls, or security measures;
- use automated tools, bots, or scrapers to access or collect data from the Service without prior written permission;
- impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with any entity.
I reserve the right to remove any content or restrict access to the Service if these Terms are violated.
7. Donations
BrewCard offers an optional "Buy me a coffee" donation link powered by Stripe. Donations are voluntary and do not unlock additional features or confer any ownership, license, or governance rights. Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe and is subject to Stripe's Terms of Service and Stripe's Privacy Policy. I do not collect, process, or store your payment information.
8. Third-Party Services
BrewCard relies on third-party services to operate, including:
- Vercel — hosting and content delivery
- Upstash — database services for recipe and email storage
- Google Fonts — font delivery loaded through Next.js
- Stripe — payment processing for donations
Your use of those services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies where applicable.
9. Intellectual Property, Limited License, and Restrictions
Subject to these Terms, I grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable right to access and use the Service for its intended purpose.
Except for:
- the limited right to use the Service described above; and
- your rights in your own content under Section 4,
no ownership, license, or other right is granted to you in or to BrewCard or any part of it.
The BrewCard name, logo, source code, interface, card layouts, themes, templates, design system, graphics, copy, and other original materials are my property or are used by me under applicable rights. Nothing in these Terms makes BrewCard open source or grants permission to reuse those materials outside the normal use of the Service.
Without my prior written permission, you may not:
- copy, reproduce, republish, distribute, or otherwise exploit any non-user-owned part of the Service;
- mirror, frame, white-label, resell, sublicense, lease, rent, or commercially exploit the Service or any part of it;
- copy or reuse BrewCard's source code, UI, card templates, themes, layouts, design system, or other proprietary elements to build, market, support, train, or operate a competing or substantially similar product or service;
- remove or alter copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices;
- use BrewCard branding except as allowed by the Trademark Notice.
Additional notice of rights and restrictions is available in the License Notice and the Trademark Notice.
Third-party open source packages, fonts, libraries, and other third-party materials remain subject to their own licenses and terms. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you may have directly under those third-party licenses.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY. I do not warrant that:
- the Service will be available at all times without interruption;
- the Service will be free of errors, bugs, or security vulnerabilities;
- any recipe data, including brew parameters, will produce desired results;
- your data will be preserved beyond the stated retention period.
Recipes are user-submitted and are not verified by BrewCard. You use the Service at your own risk.
11. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, I SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. This includes, without limitation, damages for loss of data, loss of profits, or any damages resulting from recipes, brew instructions, or other content obtained through the Service.
My total aggregate liability for any claims arising from or related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you have paid me in the 12 months preceding the claim, which for a free service is zero unless you have made a voluntary donation.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold me harmless from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising from your use of the Service or your violation of these Terms, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.
13. Changes to These Terms
I may update these Terms from time to time. When I do, I will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. For significant changes, I will make reasonable efforts to provide notice, such as a banner on the site.
14. Termination
I reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to the Service at any time, for any reason, without prior notice. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Sections 4, 9, 10, 11, 12, 15, 16, and 17 survive termination.
15. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
If you are located in the European Economic Area, these Terms are governed by the laws of the EEA member state in which you reside, and any disputes shall be submitted to the courts of that jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory rights you may have under applicable consumer law.
For all other users, these Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes shall be submitted to the state or federal courts located in California, subject to any mandatory law that applies to you and cannot lawfully be excluded.
16. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full effect.
17. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, License Notice, and Trademark Notice, constitute the entire agreement between you and me regarding your use of the Service as it relates to those subjects.
